The financial center of Montréal ranks 18th in the global ranking of financial centers (Global Financial Centres Index, March 2015).
Finance Montréal, set up in 2010, is the body in charge of consolidating Québec’s financial services industry by stimulating growth and value added financial activities that are strategic to the development of the industry while continuously promoting Montréal as a strong industrial hub that contributes to economic development not only in Québec, but also in all of Canada.Finance Montréal fosters cooperation among a vast range of financial sector companies.
CFCA signed a cooperation agreement with Finance Montréal in January 2015. The agreement is meant to boost the cooperation in financial services and foster investment opportunities.
This cooperation focuses on several strategic areas:
– exchange of information related to the derivatives market, the pension management, infrastructures and risk management
– share of experience between institutional bodies governing the financial sector
– choosing Casablanca as a gateway to Africafor Canadian companies wishing to operate in the continent ; and Montréal as a gateway to North America for Moroccan companies wishing to operate in this region
– Cooperation in the fields of executive education for working professionals and the academic exchanges for students
– Promotion of the francophonie (finance) along with the financial centres of Casablanca and Montréal
